Running Summary January 2026

I write these notes for myself to carry out an assessment of my running over the past month. It’s dull reading for anyone else.

2026 Goals

A running goal for 2026 is to average ten or more miles per week (520 miles or more for the entire year). I would like to race a half marathon. And after ignoring 5-km races for many years because they were too short, I plan to run several 5-km races this year.

Summary for January 2026

In January 2026 I resumed running after taking three weeks off. We had icy sidewalks in early January and unusually cold weather later in the month. My coldest run was at 11 °F on January 25. The Boston area received about sixteen inches of snow on January 25-26 that prevented me from running for a week, but shoveling snow is good aerobic exercise. Running every other day is working well for me to prevent joint pain.
