Running Summary May 2026
I ran two 5k races, joined the Somerville Road Runners, and stopped running because of a sore knee.
My running went well in May. I finished two 5k races:
- MOM’s Run on Sunday, May 10
- Mystic River Herring Run on Sunday, May 17
I ran hill repeats on May 13.
On the advice of a good friend, I joined the Somerville Road Runners and went on two runs with them, the Union Square Breakfast Club run and the Casey’s run.
But pain in my left knee increased, and I had to stop my most recent attempt at running on Sunday, May 24, after only half a mile.
I had entered the Cambridge 5k at CambridgeSide, which was held this morning (Sunday, May 31), but I decided to play it safe and not run.
This knee bothers me occasionally, and I stop running for anywhere from a week to several months until the pain goes away. In 2025, I missed about seven weeks in the summer from this knee problem.
Since summer weather is here, I will go bicycle riding.
