Watching Bicycle Racing

My mornings are filled this summer with watching bicycle racing.

In 2023 I discovered that I enjoyed watching bicycle racing, and I watched highlights on YouTube. Last summer (2024) I subscribed to Peacock TV for two months and watched Le Tour de France, Le Tour de France Femmes, and La Vuelta a España.

This year I have resubscribed to Peacock TV, and I have been watching the Tour de France with a plan to watch the two later tours. Since each stage starts at about 6:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time and ends by about noon, I still have the afternoon and evening free for other activities such as riding my own bicycle. Watching is not demanding since there are long uneventful periods interrupted by sprints, crashes, and climbs. While watching, I can write blog posts, read email, and do light chores around the house.

Peacock TV streams a great deal of substandard programming with little for me to watch other than sports. I subscribe to the Peacock Premium Plus plan, which comes with a qualified promise of no ads:

No Ads (Limited Exclusions)
Due to streaming rights, a small amount of programming will still contain ads (Peacock channels, sports and events, and a few shows and movies).

There are ads during the Tour de France, but I tune them out. I wish there was a plan with zero ads. Once La Vuelta is finished, I will stop my Peacock subscription until next summer.
