Running Summary for 2024
My running was very uneven in 2024, with long gaps.
I had a so-so year of running in 2024 with two long gaps of no running. I ran well in the winter, followed by thirteen weeks of no running when I devoted my exercise time to bicycling and walking dogs.
I resumed running in June, when I began training for a half marathon in September. I experimented with tempo runs, half mile repeats, and running in the afternoon heat and humidity in July and August. This training was working well, but I developed tightness and soreness in my right Achilles tendon that prevented me from completing my long runs. I decided not to run the half marathon race.
I resumed running in November after a ten-week break, and I finished the year strongly with no injuries.
I ran a total of 327 miles, almost 9% more than my total distance for 2023. On my biggest week, I ran 25 miles. My longest runs were 11 miles in August.
I finished one race, the Gobble Gobble Gobble 4-miler in Somerville, Massachusetts, on Thanksgiving Day morning.
I have a good start on 2025, when I hope for fewer injuries and more consistent running.
