conrad Finished 2012-01-30 2 fair Fair. Authorized by the estate of Arthur Conan Doyle. John Watson writes this story after Sherlock Holmes and Inspector Lestrade have died. Horowitz falls into the trap of writing a Sherlock Holmes story from a modern point of view. The level of violence and the type of crime are more extreme than in the original stories. The type of crime, forced sex with boys (rape), is a strange choice given that crimes against women would have been much more prevalent during this time. The plot is overly complex with many unbelievable aspects. Jacobi is a good narrator, but his American accent is painful to listen to.
