Running Summary for 2025
My running went well in 2025.
In 2025, I turned 71 but managed to increase my fitness.
I ran 515 miles in 2025, more miles than I ran in 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024; this was a 57% increase over 2024. My maximum weekly distance was 30.15 miles, and my longest run was 12.53 miles. I ran three short races in November and December.
I experimented with Zone 2 running, which maintained my fitness and probably reduced my chances of injury but didn’t make me any faster. Despite my modest mileage, I still experienced joint pain in my left knee, enough that I took breaks in the summer (when I was doing a lot of bicycling). I learned that I need to take at least one rest day between runs. I took a deliberate break for the rest of the year after I raced on December 14.
I hope to do as well, and maybe even better, in 2026.
